Spring Style Preview

Springtime. It’s a period of renewal and fresh starts.  If you’re the type who likes to keep your closet seasonal, it’s time to pack up the heaviest sweaters, coats, and winter boots. Even in our moderate Bay Area climate, our wardrobes shift for spring. And with daylight savings just a week away, we couldn’t be more excited about the changing season and the new fashion that comes along with it. This month we’ll talk about some of our favorite spring styles you’ll see in our store, on social media, and on the street.

If you decide to treat yourself to one new item this spring, make it a dress.  We absolutely love the wide selection of dresses, from full-length maxis to minis, both fitted and flowing.  And like a springtime garden, color is popping up everywhere.  You’ll have your choice of gorgeous, colorful floral prints, striking solids, and bold stripes.

Another popular trend that we’re really excited about is a fuller, romantic sleeve on blouses and dresses alike.  They add a bit of drama to an outfit and usually end at the elbow, giving your arm an elongated, slim look, despite the fullness of the sleeve. In a blouse, the look is gorgeous with a pair of slim-fitting jeans and heels.  With a dress, play up the boho vibe with a clog or gladiator sandal.

As with every season, jeans are always on our fashion favorites list.  This season, we’ll continue to see a trend toward a wider leg, both cropped and full-length.  High rise is definitely still showing strong with these fuller styles, but mid-rise and, gasp, low-rise will be making a strong showing.  As boutique owners, we try and buy with our clients in mind. You ask, we answer.  At least as best we can.

And our Spring Style Preview wouldn’t be complete without a quick mention of our favorite shoes. We’ve always believed that shoe choice can make (or break) an outfit and with the wide array of choices for spring shoes, sometimes things get tricky.  We think that with a wider leg, full-length jean, or full dress, a chunkier shoe works best.  Think clog or platform sandal.  With a wide, cropped jean, a slim jean or a more fitted dress or skirt, try something more streamline, like a strappy shoe with a heel, a wedge sandal, or a classic block heel sandal with an ankle strap.
