Fall Must Haves

As the end of the calendar summer draws near,  it’s hard not to notice the fall fashion flooding into local stores and your favorite Instagram accounts. If you’re more of an endless summer person, the arrival of chunky sweaters and suede jackets may make you yearn for more beach days, sunkissed skin, and barbeques. For those of us who can barely wait to order our first pumpkin spiced latte, we say, “bring on the sweater weather!” 

We thought it might be fun to give you a quick highlight of some of the season’s biggest hits and styles you’ll be seeing in our store and on our social media accounts. 

First up is the SHACKET.  Cut like a shirt, warm like a jacket, likely plaid.  We love the shacket for its versatility.  We like it styled over the obvious jeans and a t-shirt or light sweater, but try a little pattern mixing. Throw it on with a delicate floral blouse or even a tiered midi dress or skirt.  Add a pair of chic lug sole boots for an elevated grunge look.  

Not your grandfather’s CARDIGAN. With shorter days and chilly evenings approaching, one look we’ll be showing is an updated, open-front sweater.  Whether cropped with a button front, at the hip and belted, or a full-length, open duster, we’ll be offering lots of options in luxurious cashmere, wool, or cotton. And in a nod to the 90s, we’re carrying sweaters with a peek of skin. Imagine a subtly sexy cutout shoulder or an asymmetrical neckline. 

And then there’s DENIM.  While we’ll still be carrying a selection of your tried and true skinny jeans, because, let’s be honest, nothing tucks into a pair of killer knee-high boots better, the new silhouettes you’ll see are decidedly fuller.  With a high rise and defined waist, these “mom jeans” (don’t love the term, but you get what we mean) look on-trend and stylish worn with a pair of heels and a blazer or with sneakers or clogs (really, clogs?) and a fitted top.  A french tuck (front only) or full tuck is a must with these styles to balance the wider bottoms and emphasize your waist. 

And yes, CLOGS are making a solid comeback. Far more fashionable than the versions worn by ER nurses everywhere or your 4th grade music teacher, clogs may just be the mule replacement of 2021.  We have clogs with a classic wood heel, padded footbeds, open toes, heel straps, and colors from gorgeous natural suede and rich chocolate brown leather to classic black. 

So that’s our FALL FASHION ROUNDUP.  We honestly do enjoy buying and stocking our store for fall, perhaps more than any other season.  The rich colors and textures are always a welcome change from the light summer styles and fabrics.
